Glengormley man suffers broken leg during robbery

A 53-year-old man has suffered a broken leg after two armed men broke into his Newtownabbey home early this morning.

The man was in bed at his home in Dorchester Drive, Glengormley when he heard a noise on the landing at about 3am.

When he went to investigate he was attacked by two men with hammers.

His wife and one of his sons were kicked as they attempted to help him.

The man's 11-year-old son and six-year-old daughter were also in the house at the time but were unhurt.

The thieves escaped with money, jewellery and mobile phones.

The man suffered head injuries as well as a broken leg. He is currently resting in hospital and is described as stable.

Police have appealed for anyone with any information about the incident to contact them at Newtownabbey station on 028 9065 0222.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.

Two Injured In Newtownabbey Attack
Two men have been injured following an attack in Newtownabbey on Monday night. A group of men assaulted the two men in Braden Glen at around 10.30pm. One of the victims is believed to have a suspected broken arm and leg, while the other man suffered swelling to the side of his head and a cut on his nose.

Police Arrest Two Men After Ballymena Assault
Two men have been arrested in County Antrim on suspicion of assault. Police said they received a report at 6.15am yesterday that a man, aged in his 20s, had been attacked at a residential property in the Orkney Drive area of Ballymena. The man sustained injuries to his face, abdomen and leg, which at this stage are not thought to be serious.

Man Arrested Over Assault On Pensioner
A man has been arrested following an assault on a 72-year-old at his home on the Doagh Road are of Newtownabbey on Saturday. The elderly man received a suspected broken ankle and cuts to his face in the attack. The 20-year-old remains in custody for questioning.

Two men arrested following pensioner robbery
Two men have been arrested in connection to the robbery of a pensioner's home in Co Down yesterday. The 93-year-old man suffered cuts to his ear and an arm injury when he confronted two men who had climbed through a bedroom window at his Hillsborough home at around 8.45am on Tuesday. The robbers escaped with a sum of money.
