Man Arrested Over N Belfast Gun Attack

A man has been arrested by detectives investigating a gun attack on the PSNI in north Belfast on Thursday night.

Dissident republicans have been blamed for the attack, which saw three police vehicles struck by a number of shots in the Ardoyne area of the city.

Officers were shot at as they were travelling along the Crumlin Road near Brompton Park at about 19:00.

A 34-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the attack.

He has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

SHop Assistant Shaken After Holylands Robbery

A female shop assistant has been forced to get on her knees and hand over money to thieves during a robbery at a shop in south Belfast.

The incident occurred at about 16:00 on Saturday on Agincourt Avenue in the Holylands area.

A man covering his face with a scarf entered the shop and threatened the assistant, before forcing her to get down on her knees.

He then demanded money from the till and made off on foot.

The man has been described as in his late 20s, around 5' 7" in height, of medium build and wearing a blue baseball cap, blue jeans, a khaki green waterproof coat with a green scarf pulled up round his face and black gloves.

Men Assaulted Outside Coleraine Bar

Two men have been treated in hospital for injuries sustained during an assault in Coleraine, County Antrim.

The incident happened outside a bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The men, aged 27 and 25, were attacked in the Waterside area of the town at around 01:20.

The 27-year-old was treated for a stab wound, while the other was treated for a head injury.

Man Left With Eye Injury In Bottle Attack

A 21-year-old man has been left with a serious eye injury after he was hit in the face with a bottle in Co Antrim.

The man was attacked outside a bar in the Bridge Street area of Dunloy at about 01:00 on Sunday.

He was taken from the scene to hospital for treatment.

A 21-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.
