Firefighters Attacked In West Belfast

Firefighters have been attacked and had items of equipment stolen during a response to a call in west Belfast.

Firefighters came under attack from youths throwing missiles as they were attending a burning car at Albert Street in the Divis area.

A collector head, a suction wrench and T-bar were also stolen from their vehicle.

93-Year-Old Conned In 'Distraction' Burglary

93-year-old woman has been burgled by a man who conned his way into her south Belfast home.

The incident occurred at about 16:00 on Wednesday evening, when a man called to the woman's Upper Malone Road property claiming there was a fault with her neighbour's water.

The man said he had to check her property and searched all the rooms in her house.

When the man left, it was discovered a sum of money had been stolen.

Detectives investigating the distraction burglary are appealing for anyone who may have information, or witnessed anything to contact police on 0845 600 8000.

Man Charged Over Belfast Robberies

A man has been charged in connection with two armed robberies and two attempted armed robberies in north Belfast.

An off-licence and a shop were robbed and an attempt was made to rob a restaurant and a shop in the Crumlin Road area on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was arrested and charged on Wednesday and due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court today.

Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A woman was convicted at Lisburn Magistrates' Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

57-year-old Mary Nolan of Juniper Rise, Dunmurry claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,758 while failing to declare employment. She was handed a one month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £10.

She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Multiple Arrests Made Following South Armagh Burglaries
Multiple men have been arrested following a series of burglaries and thefts in south Armagh, police have announced. A 21 year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of burglary from a dwelling and theft of a vehicle, has been released on conditional bail to allow for further police enquiries. At the time of the arrest the man was aged 20.

Arrests And Suspected Stolen Good Seized In L'Derry
Two men have been arrested and a quantity of suspected stolen goods have been seized by officers from the City Centre Neighbourhood Team in L'Derry. A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of six counts of theft and he remains in police custody at this time.

Suspected Stolen Goods Recovered From Van On M1 In Belfast
Police are appealing for information after suspected stolen goods were recovered from a southern registered white Transit van on the M1 in Belfast. Around 30 bottles of whiskey and vodka were found and police are seeking to find where they came from.

Man arrested in connection with Lisa murder is released
The man arrested in connection with the murder of Bangor woman Lisa Dorrian has been released, police have said. The 18-year-old man was detained in the Greater Belfast area on Tuesday but has since been released without charge. The man is the fourth person to be questioned in connection with inquiries into the 25-year-old’s killing.

Man Charged After Woman Killed In North Belfast Crash
A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was hit by a stolen car in north Belfast. The stolen vehicle was being chased by police in the Ballysillan area before it crashed on Thursday, 19 April. The suspect is to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today, 20 April.
