PSNI Seizes £27k Drugs In County Down
The PSNI has made a series of drug seizures in County Down amounting to an estimated total of £27,000.
Police discovered £17,000 of herbal cannabis on the Listooder Road in Crossgar on Wednesday, after being alerted by a member of the public.
£10,000 of herbal cannabis was discovered in bins at the back of a house in the Meadowlands area of Downpatrick on 31 March.
No arrests were made, but police said they are continuing to make inquiries.
Down Area Commander, Chief Inspector Deirdre Bones, said: "The potential harm to the public caused by drugs is something that we take very seriously and this is a substantial amount of suspected herbal cannabis that has now been taken off our streets.
"We know that the local community want us to tackle the issue of drugs and these recent seizures are further commitment of our determination to do so.
"I would like to thank the public for their continued support and would appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to illegal drugs, to contact local police on the new non-emergency number 101 or, alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A police search of a Londonderry man's home last year has led to a court appearance on drugs charges. A 26-year-old computer technician from the Bogside area of Derry has admitted being in possession of a quantity of crystal ecstasy. The drugs were found in his home by the police last year.

Police have seized drugs worth an estimated £80,000 in Omagh, Co Tyrone. Herbal cannabis, diazepam tablets and a significant amount of cash were also uncovered during a house search on Wednesday, 24 August. A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the seizures.
