Police investigate separate abductions

Police are appealing for information following two separate abduction attempts in Belfast and Lurgan last night.

In Belfast an 11-year-old girl escaped the clutches of a man who attempted to drag her into a car in the east of the city after asking for directions. The girl was riding her bike along Parkgate Avenue shortly before 7pm when the incident occurred. The man is described as being in his mid to late 30s with short, dark hair and of stocky build. He was driving a white car.

In Lurgan, a 10-year-old boy was offered sweets by man who attempted to lure him into his car. The boy was walking along the Portadown Road at around 8pm last night when the incident took place. When the boy refused and ran off the man drove off in the direction of the old Portadown Road.

The man is believed to be in his 20s and was driving a black car which had a spoiler, alloy wheels and a larger than normal exhaust.
