Armed Man Robs Shop In Co Down

A man armed with a knife has robbed a shop in County Down.

The incident happened in the Central Promenade area of Newcastle at around 8.25pm on Tuesday.

The man made off with a sum of money and a staff member's mobile phone. He also got one of the staff members to carry a safe outside, however the staff member dropped the safe in the street and the man made off on foot.

Detective Inspector Graham said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw this man or who knows anything about this incident to contact Downpatrick Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

An elderly man has been left in critical condition after his bicycle was involved in a collision with a tractor in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh. Residents Return To Flood Hit Homes In Co Tyrone
Evacuated residents in the County Tyrone village of Sion Mills have been allowed to return home after severe flooding. A multi-agency response, including 60 firefighters, responded to flood-related calls over the weekend. Several roads in and around the village were closed off and a number of residents evacuated.

Armed Men Rob Downpatrick Shop
Detectives in Downpatrick, County Down have appealed for information following a report of an armed robbery at licensed premises on the Belfast Road, Ballynahinch, County Down, on Wednesday 8 October. At around 21:45, it is believed that one man entered a shop in the area armed with a suspected firearm.

Man Attacks Staff Member During Armed Robbery In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in south Belfast. The incident happened at a fast food restaurant in the Botanic Avenue area in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A man hit a female member of staff with a hammer before making off with a sum of money and another staff member's mobile phone.

Fast food van robbed at knifepoint
Police in Downpatrick are appealing for information after an armed robbery yesterday evening. Just before 8.30pm, two men, one armed with a knife, approached a fast food van on the Dundrum Road in Newcastle. The men threatened staff and demanded that they hand over a sum of cash.
