Former Soldier Released In Bloody Sunday Investigation

A former soldier arrested by detectives investigating the events of Bloody Sunday has been released.

Fourteen people died after soldiers opened fire during a civil rights march in the Bogside area of L'Derry in 1972.

The 66-year-old man was detained in Co Antrim on Tuesday by detectives from the Legacy Investigation Branch. He has been released pending further enquiries.

He was the first person to be arrested as part of the Bloody Sunday investigation.

Man Arrested Over Wayne Boylan Murder
PSNI have made an arrest over the murder of Wayne Boylan in Warrenpoint last month. A 44-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and a drug related offence. Mr Boylan(37) was gunned down in a flat in Lower Dromore Road on 18 January. A 21-year-old woman also suffered gunshot wounds and was later treated in hospital.

Man And Woman Charged With Clogher Murder
A 23-year-old man and 33-year-old woman have been charged with the murder of Pat Ward in Clogher. Mr Ward(30) was found dead in an alleyway on the morning of Saturday, 09 February. The pair in question were later arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder. PSNI were granted an additional 28 hours for questioning.

One Arrested Over 'Barbaric' East Belfast Murder
Detectives investigating the "vicious" and "barbaric" murder of Ian Ogle in east Belfast have arrested a 49-year-old man. The 45-year-old father-of-two is believed to have been stabbed to death after he was set upon by a gang at the entrance to Cluan Place between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday night, 27 January.

Man Arrested Over Threats To Kill
A man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including making threats to kill, after an incident in Dunmurry over the weekend. The 38-year-old was detained after and aggravated burglary in Juniper Park at around 6.15pm on Saturday 02 February.
