Former Soldier Released In Bloody Sunday Investigation

A former soldier arrested by detectives investigating the events of Bloody Sunday has been released.

Fourteen people died after soldiers opened fire during a civil rights march in the Bogside area of L'Derry in 1972.

The 66-year-old man was detained in Co Antrim on Tuesday by detectives from the Legacy Investigation Branch. He has been released pending further enquiries.

He was the first person to be arrested as part of the Bloody Sunday investigation.

Pair Arrested Over Co Antrim Arson
Detectives investigating an arson attack in County Antrim have arrested two men. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service was called to the West Street area of Carrickfergus at around 11.30pm on Wednesday evening after a bin was placed against the door of a property and set on fire. Fire crews managed to extinguished the blaze.

Man Held Over Police Murder Bid In Belfast
A man has been arrested in County Fermanagh by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a police officer with an under-car bomb in east Belfast. The 38-year-old suspect was detained in Belleek on Wednesday morning, 11 September, by the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit. He was taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
