Man being questioned following robbery

A man is being questioned by police following an armed robbery in north Belfast on Monday.

At around 7am two masked men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered a shop on the Ardoyne Road.

The two men proceeded to steal a sum of cash and cigarettes before leaving.

Elsewhere in north Belfast, police have issued a fresh appeal following the attempted murder of a man on the Shore Road on November 16.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver car in or around Boundary Way at around 11pm after four men pulled up in a car and attacked a man with hammers and machetes.

Police have issued an appeal for information following a fatal collision in Dundrum, Co Down. A 49-year-old man died at the scene of a three-car collision on the Belfast Road at about 12:20am on Thursday. It is understood that four other people are being treated in hospital following the collision.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Four Men Arrested Over Explosive Device In West Belfast Released
Four men arrested in connection with an explosive device in west Belfast last year have been released from custody. The device was found in the Pantridge Road area on 30 October. Three men arrested under the Terrorism Act have been released unconditionally.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
