Man Injured After Tackling Intruder In South Belfast

A man has sustained minor injuries after tackling an intruder he caught ransacking his home in south Belfast.

The incident happened at Cleaver Park, just off the Malone Road, at around 3.20am on Wednesday, 06 September.

The man refused to hand over his car keys and fought off one of the two intruders while he tried to call the emergency services.

A sum of money and a quantity of medication were found at the scene.

Meanwhile, 20 minutes later, police received a report of another burglary that had happened earlier at a house nearby.

An older resident at the property said his alarm had gone off at 2.30am and a room had been ransacked and a number of items had been stolen.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
