26-Year-Old Arrested After 'Roof Rampage' In South Belfast

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with what has been described as a "roof rampage" in south Belfast.

It is understood that the man climbed up onto the roofs of houses on Ashley Drive at about 9.30pm on Sunday, 27 May.

The man spent a number of hours on top of the homes throwing bricks and tiles onto the street and cars below.

It is said that the man caused so much damage that a number of residents were evacuated from their homes and only allowed to return on Monday after structural surveys were carried out.

A number of residents' vehicles parked in the street were also damaged in the incident.

The man eventually came down from the roof at about 1.30am and arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including criminal damage.
