Warning For Thunderstorms Issued In NI

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued in some parts of Northern Ireland.

The Met Office has put the warning in place from 10pm on Friday, 01 June, and a second warning has been issued for Saturday, 02 June.

Heavy rain, downpours of hail and thunder and lighting is expected, according to forecasters.

The Met Office said people should expect:

• A chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

• A chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life

• Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

• Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

• A chance that power cuts could occur due to either flooding or lightning strikes. Other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
