One Dead In Co Down Crash

A man has died following a crash on the A1 dual carriageway in County Down on Sunday evening, 31 March.

The collision happened shortly before 6.30pm between Dromore and Banbridge, close to the road's junction with the Gowdystown Road.

The man was driving a Volkswagen Passat car when it collided with a Volvo XC60. Two people who were in the Volvo, a man and woman, were taken to hospital in Newry with non-life threatening injuries.

The road re-opened early this morning.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them on 101.

Police are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and identify all of the vehicles involved. The PSNI are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
