Arrest As Baby Found Dead In Lurgan

An investigation has been launched after a baby was found dead at a house in Lurgan this morning, Wednesday 28 August.

Police said a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty, possession of a Class A drug and possession of a Class B drug.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.

DUP MLA for Upper Bann Carla Lockhart expressed her shock at the news. She wrote on Twitter: "This is a very sad situation and heartbreaking to think of the loss of such a young life.

"My thoughts are with the wider family and our emergency services who deal with sensitive situations like this in such a professional manner."
