Man Detained After Injuring Two PSNI Officers During Arrest

Two PSNI officers have been injured as they transported a man to custody.

The man, aged in his 40s, had been arrested in connection with a domestic incident in the Ennislare Road area at around 2.45am on Saturday 15 April.

As officers transferred the man to custody, he became agitated and aggressive. He resisted being placed in handcuffs and pushed an officer to the ground, causing minor injuries to her hip and hand. A second officer also sustained an injury to his hand.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of assault on police and resisting police. He remains in custody at this time, assisting police with enquiries.

Inspector Browne said: "Our investigation is now underway and anyone with information that could help can call police on 101, quoting reference number 210 of 15/04/23."

Four Men Arrested For Dissident Activity
Four men have been arrested in Newtownabbey on suspicion of dissident republican activity. PSNI officers detained the men on Thursday evening aged 30,35 and 46. They are being questioned in Antrim police station.
