'Significant Quantity' Of Tablets Discovered On Co Down Beach

The PSNI have issued a warning following the discovery of a "significant quantity" of tablets of County Down's Cloughey beach on the afternoon of Wednesday, 03 April.

Officers responded to reports that large quantity of tablets in plastic blister packs had been found on the beach. Police have said that initial examination identified the tablets as Tramadol, a powerful opioid pain medication.

Constable Kingsberry said: "This is a popular beach with families, children and dog walkers. While officers have scanned the wider area and removed items for further examination, we are asking everyone to be vigilant.

"Please be aware of the severe dangers of taking any drugs, or counterfeit medication, which have not been prescribed by your doctor. And please be especially careful when it comes to your children who may be walking or playing on the beach."

Anyone with information, findings, or concerns, is asked to contact officers on 101.
