Man Extradited From Poland To Stand Trial In NI

A 41-year-old man has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland to stand trial for a number of offences, including the cultivation of cannabis.

According to the PSNI, the man is accused of committing a number of offences in the Maghera, Coleraine and Kilrea areas in October 2019. The man, who had been arrested and charged, breached bail conditions and failed to appear before Londonderry Crown Court in February 2022.

The man was subsequently arrested in Poland on 06 March and extradition proceedings began. Those proceedings were completed with his arrival in NI on Wednesday, 10 April.

The man will now appear before Bishop Street Courthouse today, Thursday 11th April 2024.

Sergeant Davey, from the Police Service's International Policing Unit, said: "This demonstrates our continued and effective working with our international partners to track down wanted persons and bring offenders to justice.

"If you abscond while on bail then we will take all steps possible to locate you and have you brought before the courts here in NI."

A 59-year old man that has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland is to stand trial for sexual offences against children today, 31 January. Officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit extradited the man yesterday, 30 January, ahead of his expected appearance before Downpatrick Crown Court today.

Man Extradited By PSNI To Slovakia
Officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit extradited a 52-year-old man from Northern Ireland to Slovakia, yesterday, 29 January. The man who was wanted in relation to a number of fraud offences, will now stand trial in Slovakia.
