Man Arrested Following Attempted Burglaries In West Belfast
Police have arrested a man following two attempted burglaries in the west Belfast area on Saturday evening.
The first incident was reported around 9.10pm in the Andersonstown Park West area. A short time later, another attempted burglary was reported in the Fruithill Park area at approximately 9.45pm.
In both cases, it was reported that a suspicious man had attempted to enter a house through a window.
Police established that the suspect had climbed a nearby tree. Following a lengthy negotiation, officers, assisted by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, brought the man down safely. A 32-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted burglary and disorderly behaviour.
Inspector McCullough said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with any information, including CCTV footage or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the areas to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1502 of 18/01/25."

74-Year-Old Shot In Chest
A pensioner has been taken to hospital after being shot in the chest by a masked man in Ballycastle, County Antrim. The 74-year-old man was working in a shed at a property in the Islandboy Road area at about 20:45 on Thursday evening when the attacker approached and shot him.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.
