Man Arrested Following Machete Incident In East Belfast
Police in east Belfast have arrested a 31-year-old man following a report of a man with a machete in the Devon Drive area of the city on Thursday evening.
Just before 10.10pm, police received a report that two men, one of whom was armed with a machete, were involved in a fight in the street.
An Armed Response Unit was dispatched to the scene alongside local policing officers. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s with serious injuries to his hands.
A subsequent search of the property resulted in the seizure of a number of items for further examination. The 31-year-old occupant of the property was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing ammunition in suspicious circumstances, and a number of drug possession charges.
He remains in police custody at this time.
Sergeant McCartney said: "Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have any information relevant to the investigation, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1745 of 06/02/25."

A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
