Fire Service Cadet Scheme Open For Applications In Lisburn And Newry
Young people in the Lisburn and Newry areas who will be starting Year 11 in September 2025 and are under 15 years old by 1st July 2025 are being offered an exciting opportunity to join the Fire Service Cadet Scheme.
To be eligible for the Cadet Scheme, applicants must live or attend school within the geographical area served by either the Lisburn or Newry Cadet Branch.
Spaces on the scheme are limited, and interested individuals are encouraged to apply by the deadline of Wednesday, 30th April 2025.

The scheme provides a hands-on experience for young people to develop vital life skills, build confidence, and forge lasting friendships, all while learning about the work of firefighters. Cadets will gain valuable insight into the role of the fire service, learn essential fire safety and first aid skills, and participate in teamwork activities designed to promote leadership and personal development. ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Two politicians have hit out at the Sinn Fein Lord Mayor of Belfast following his actions at a Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme ceremony at the City Hall this week. The Ulster Unionist Mike Nesbitt and Strangford representative said: "The Lord Mayor of Belfast once again demonstrated his inability to represent all the citizens of the City.
