Two Seriously Injured After Car Collides With Pedestrians In Millisle
Two people sustained serious injuries after a car collided with a number of pedestrians on Main Street in Millisle on Saturday evening, 17th May.
Police confirmed they received a report of the incident at approximately 11:05 pm.
Detective Inspector Oonagh Ryan said: "We received a report at around 11.05pm, that a vehicle had collided with a number of pedestrians outside licensed premises on Main Street, Millisle."
It was reported that after the collision, the vehicle turned around and drove past the licensed premises again before making off from the scene.
Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), attended the scene. Detective Inspector Ryan confirmed: "Two people were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries, which have been described as serious." Police located the vehicle a short time later outside Walkers Lane, Millisle. One man was arrested at that time on suspicion of attempted murder and a number of driving offences.
Update: A 47-year-old man, who was arrested in Millisle on Saturday, 17th May on suspicion of attempted murder and driving offences, has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. "Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference CW 1805 of 17/05/25," Detective Inspector Ryan added.
A report can also be made using the online reporting form via the PSNI website, or information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.

Man Injured In East Belfast Assault
Police are investigating an assault in east Belfast that occurred on Wednesday evening, February 12th, followed by a fire at the same address early the following morning. Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, police received a report that five masked men armed with hammers had broken into a flat in the Templemore Street area and assaulted a man inside.
