Three Police Vehicles Damaged In Strabane
Police in Strabane are appealing for witnesses after three of their vehicles were damaged in the early hours of Sunday, 31 August.
The damage occurred while officers were responding to an altercation between several men in the Railway Street area at around 2am. During the incident, an officer was punched on the arm while attempting to break up the fight. One man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, assault on police, and disorderly behaviour. The 38-year-old was subsequently charged with disorderly behaviour and assault on police and is scheduled to appear at Strabane Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 25 September.
When officers returned to their cars, they found that two had damaged wing mirrors and a third had its number plate removed and a dent in the boot. Sergeant McDermott said one of the vehicles had to be taken off the road for repairs, reducing the number of cars available to serve the public.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the damage or has relevant dash-cam or mobile phone footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 206 of 31/08/25. A report can also be made online or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
