Police Name Lisburn Murder Victim

Police in Lisburn have launched a murder investigation following the death of 42-year-old Barry Furfey.

Mr Furfey was found seriously injured at a property on Wardsborough Road in the early hours of Monday, 15 September, and later died in hospital.

A 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody, assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Jill Angus said: "My thoughts are with Barry's family, who are left to try to come to terms with their devastating loss." She added: "Our enquiries are continuing, and I am keen to take the opportunity to reiterate my appeal to anyone with information to contact detectives".

Man Arrested In Bangor Shooting Investigation
A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of two men in Bangor. The male victims, aged 24 and 33, were shot as they sat in a car in the Eastway area of the Whitehill estate at about 00:45 on 10 February. UTV has reported that the UVF are thought to have been behind the attack.

Detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team have charged two people with the murder of Barry Furfey in Lisburn. A 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, 17 September.

Murder Inquiry Launched After Man Dies In Mountnorris
Detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Mountnorris. A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody, assisting detectives with their enquiries.

28-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Violent Ballymena Attack
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a stabbing incident in Ballymena. A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head, neck and stomach after he was reportedly attacked at his home in the Grove Road area. The incident is said to have taken place shortly after 4am this morning.

Four Now Held Over Derry Police Murder Bid
The police swooped on a number of locations yesterday and in seperate operations arrested a total of four suspects in their on-going investigation into the shooting of an off duty policeman in Londonderry last month.
