Four Charged In Connection With Belfast Protests

A man has been charged to court over a protest outside Belfast Courts on Tuesday afternoon, 2 December. The 20-year-old is charged with disorderly behaviour and doing a provocative act, and is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 30 December.

A 45-year-old man was also arrested at the same protest event in connection with another protest in Belfast City Centre on Saturday, 8 November. He has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and selling an offensive weapon.

Following a second protest in the Belfast City Hall area on Tuesday evening, 2 December, police have also charged an 18-year-old man and a 46-year-old man with disorderly behaviour. Both are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 30 December.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Man Bailed Over Sex Offences
A 40-year-old man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged in connection with a number of sexual offences. The man faces on charge of rape, two charges of sexual assault and one charge of sexual activity with a child.

Two due in court charged with riotous behaviour
A 21-year-old-man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with riotous assembly. The man, who is from the Highfield area of the city, is charged in connection with riotous behaviour in North Belfast, following the contentious Whiterock parade on September 10, 2005.

Two Charged Over Attempted Hijiacking In Newtownabbey
Two men have been charged in connection with a hijacking attempt in Newtownabbey, County Antrim. The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 December. A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted hijacking, resisting police, assault of police and disorderly behaviour following the alleged incident.
