Met Office Issues New Snow And Ice Warning Across NI

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for a risk of snow and ice across NI.

The warning comes into effect from today, 9 January, at 5pm to Saturday, 10 January, at 11am.

The forecaster said: "Friday evening will be dry and frosty with clear spells. Thickening cloud will spread east from the late evening with a band of showery, wintry rain following east towards morning. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

"On Saturday the morning will be cloudy with showery and wintry rain. This rain will clear east to leave the afternoon dry with bright spells. Maximum temperature 4 °C."

Some roads and railways may affected, leading to longer journey times for road users and passengers on bus and train services. There may be injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and expect some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Roads Service to spend £6M on improvements
