Man Arrested In Poyntzpass Over Threats to Elected Representatives
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Serious Crime Branch have arrested a 62-year-old man following a search operation in the Poyntzpass area today, Tuesday 3 February.
The arrest is the third to be made in connection with an ongoing investigation into reports of threats directed at elected representatives in the Newry, Mourne and Down districts. The suspect was detained under the Terrorism Act and is currently being held in police custody to assist officers with their enquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Fenton commented on the operation: "The man, aged 62, was arrested under the Terrorism Act and he remains in police custody at this time, assisting with our enquiries.
"The man is the third to be arrested as part of our investigation into reports of threats made to elected representatives in Newry, Mourne and Down.
"Officers from both PSNI Serious Crime Branch and Local Policing in Newry, Mourne and Down are continuing to co-ordinate their efforts and work together to fully investigate threats directed towards our elected representatives, hold those responsible to account, and keep our community safe."
The investigation remains active as police and specialist units continue their efforts to address the threats and ensure the safety of the local community and its representatives.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Man Charged With Making Threats To Kill
A 30-year-old man has been charged with making threats to kill. He has also been charged with disorderly behaviour. He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court today. The charges relate to an incident which occurred at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast over the weekend, following the fatal shooting of Edward Gibson.

Man Arrested Following Lisburn Assault Released
A man arrested following an assault in Lisburn has been released on bail pending further enquiries, according to the PSNI. The 21-year-old was arrested following an incident in the Rathvarna Drive and Beechwood Grove area at around 1.30am on Tuesday, 12 July.
