Detectives in east Belfast have issued an appeal for information following an assault that occurred on the evening of Thursday, 9th April.

Authorities received a report regarding the incident at approximately 11.40pm. According to police, a man was punched in the face before being further assaulted while on the ground by another male. The victim required hospital treatment for injuries sustained to his face during the attack.

Detective Sergeant Stevenson said: "It was reported at around 11.40pm that a man was punched in the face and assaulted as he lay on the ground by another male. "The victim sustained facial injuries as a result of the incident, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are asking anyone who witnessed what happened, or who might have any information which might assist, to get in touch. We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who might have any dash cam footage which might assist.

"The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1789 of 09/04/26."
