Met Office Issues Weather Warning For Northern Ireland
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Northern Ireland, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected to develop across the region on Wednesday.
The warning, issued this morning, Wednesday, 19 August, covers County Antrim, County Armagh, County Down, County Fermanagh, County Londonderry and County Tyrone. According to the Met Office, a band of heavy showers is expected to spread across Northern Ireland from west to east during the late morning and early afternoon.
Further slow-moving heavy showers or thunderstorms are then expected to develop later.
The Met Office says rainfall totals of 15-20mm are likely within an hour or less in the affected showers, while a few locations could receive between 25mm and 30mm of rain over a couple of hours.
Rain is expected to be the primary hazard, although the Met Office also warns that hail and lightning are likely in some areas.
The warning covers all six counties of Northern Ireland.
