£400,000 A29 Ring Road Footway Upgrade Under Way In Coleraine
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that a £400,000 scheme to improve the footway along the A29 Ring Road in Coleraine.
The project supports the Department’s ongoing commitment to active travel and better pedestrian access, and will deliver 500 metres of new footway from Lodge Road Roundabout to the southern side of Mountsandel Bridge.
To enable the works, temporary traffic management is in place on the A29 Ring Road from Tuesday 20 October 2026 for approximately six weeks. To complete the scheme safely and manage traffic flows, overnight closures will operate in the Limavady-bound direction only, Monday to Saturday, from 8pm to 6am. A signed diversion will run via Lodge Road, Nursery Avenue, Terrace Row, Bannfield Road, Hanover Place, A2 Bann Bridge and Strand Road.
The Department has scheduled the works and traffic arrangements to reduce disruption as much as possible; however, the Lodge Road Roundabout will be reduced to one lane during the closures, which may result in local delays. Road users are advised to allow extra time for journeys.
All dates and durations are dependent on favourable weather and may change. The Department thanks residents, local businesses and road users for their patience and cooperation while these important improvements are delivered.
