SF Welcomes Ruling Blocking Loyal Order March On Lower Ormeau Road

Sinn Féin MLA Deirdre Hargey has welcomed the Parades Commission's determination on 29 October 2026 not to permit a loyal order march along the lower Ormeau Road, describing it as the right outcome.

Following the Commission's announcement, the South Belfast MLA said: "Today's decision is the correct one, and I am glad the Parades Commission has reached this conclusion.

"There was never any basis or justification for taking the community of the lower Ormeau Road back 27 years.

"The days of nationalists being second class citizens are over.

"The days of supremacy and domination are over.

"The sectarian harassment, violence and murder visited upon these residents in the past will never be allowed to happen again.

"Sinn Féin will continue to stand fully with the lower Ormeau Road community.

"There is no going back.

"Not now. Not ever."
