Pensioner assaulted by gang of teenagers
Police in County Tyrone are appealing for information after a pensioner was assaulted in her home on Wednesday evening.
The woman, who is in her 70's, was attacked by a gang of teenagers while she was in the garden of her home in the Starr's Crescent area of Omagh at around 10.30pm.
It has been reported that two boys and three girls approached the pensioner, and after a short conversation, one of the boys punched the woman, knocking her to the ground.
She lay there until around 12.30am, until a neighbour spotted her.
While the assault was taking place, the second boy entered the woman's house, while the three girls stood by and watched.
The gang left a short time later, stealing two plant pots from the doorsteps.
Detectives investigating the incident have said that they are appalled by the "heartless actions of the teenagers" and have urged anyone who may have witnessed the attack or have any information, which may assist police in finding those responsible, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
