Man treated after Carrickfergus attack
A man has been injured during an attack in County Antrim.
The 19-year-old man and his girlfriend were walking along the Salia Street area of Carrickfergus at around 2am this morning when the incident happened.
Police have said that two men approached the couple and then attacked the man, kicking and punching him.
The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his face and body.
Police have reported that the incident is not being treated as sectarian as was originally thought, and it is now believed to be related to a fall out between people known to each other.
Detectives in Carrickfergus have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information in relation to it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.
