Two assaulted in separate weekend attacks
Six people have been questioned in connection with an assault on a man in County Antrim at the weekend.
Two women and four men were arrested yesterday, after a 29-year-old was attacked in the Castlemara Crescent area of Carrickfergus in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim sustained head injuries during the assault, and police have said that he remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who was in the area between midnight on Saturday and and 9am on Sunday and may have witnessed anything in relation to the attack, to contact them.
Meanwhile, police in County Down have appealed for witnesses after a 22-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the early hours of Saturday.
The attack happened close to the junction of Water Street, Bridge Street and Buttercrane Quay in Newry at around 2.30am on Saturday morning.
Police have said that the victim sustained serious head injuries during the incident and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Detectives have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them, and are especially keen to hear from a woman, believed to be aged around 19, and with dark hair, possibly from the Longstone area, who is believed to have been at the scene.
Anyone who may have any information on either incident, should contact detectives on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
