Attempted abduction in County Down

Police in County Down have appealed for information following the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old boy earlier in the week.

The incident happened at around 7am on Wednesday morning, when the child was waiting at a bus stop on the Ardglass Road in Downpatrick.

A car pulled up alongside the boy, and the man and woman inside tried to encourage him to get into the vehicle.

The child told them that he was waiting for his school bus, and as the bus approached, the couple drove away.

This is the second time this week that an abduction attempt has been made in the area.

On Monday evening, a man tried to entice a 10-year-old girl into his car.

Police have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information which may be of use to police investigating the incident, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
