Man arrested in armed robber probe
Police searching for an armed robber who robbed a couple in their County Tyrone guest house yesterday evening, have arrested a man.
The man is understood to have been arrested in Belfast earlier today after turning himself into Antrim Road police station in the north of the city.
The arrest follows an extensive search earlier today, which was prompted by an incident, which happened at around 10pm yesterday evening, when a man armed with a knife forced his way into the property in the Plumbridge Road area of Newtownstewart.
After entering the property, the man assaulted the home-owner and threatened his wife, before seizing a shotgun, and making off in their car, which was later found abandoned near to the derelict farm.
Police searched the farmhouse and after nothing was found, stepped up their search of the area with assistance from the PSNI helicopter.
Detectives are currently question the man in connection with the incident.
