Robbers Assault Tyrone 88-Year-Old

An elderly woman has been brutally assaulted during a robbery at her home yesterday.

The 88-year-old woman has suffered a broken rib and head injury when she was tied up in a terrifying robbery.

The pensioner was confronted in the hall of her home in Mountfield, Tyrone, at 11pm last night by three masked men who struck her and demanded cash.

She was then dragged into a bedroom of the Killyclogher Road house, where her ankles and hands were bound with scarves by her assailants.

The lady had been in bed before the intruders broke in.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them and have made particular reference to the fact that there is normally no car at the house and are asking for anyone who noticed a vehicle there last night is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
