NI Man Held Over Donegal Hit-And-Run

Donegal Gardai have arrested a man from Northern Ireland in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Portnoo in the early hours of Monday morning.

This was the second such incident within 24-hours as a woman was arrested on Sunday in Co Galway.

Police in Glenties said that the road between the Summy Crossroads and Kilclooney Church, was closed throughout yesterday in the wake of the incident which occurred at around 12.20am.

A 30-year-old man was struck as he walked along the road and was brought to Letterkenny General Hospital as a result.

One man, believed to be from Northern Ireland, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Last night, he was being detained at Ballyshannon Garda Station.

The road outside Portnoo currently was closed for several hours as a Garda forensic investigation team visited the scene.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 30s was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Co Galway at the weekend.

The body of a man in his late 60s was found on Sunday on a road in Cregg, Corrandulla, about 17 kilometres north of Galway city.

The woman was arrested on Sunday afternoon and was last night still being questioned under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The man who died is from the immediate area, but his name has not yet been released.

Gardai say the incident occurred between one and two o'clock on Sunday morning.

Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Woman Arrested After Sudden Death Of Man In L'Derry
A woman has been arrested following the sudden death of a man in Magherafelt. A 46-year-old man died in L'Derry in the early hours of Tuesday, 05 December. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.
