Three critically injured in road traffic incidents

A man has been hurt in another hit and run incident in north Belfast on Sunday night.

The latest victim, who is 48-years-old, was struck by a car which mounted the pavement at the junction of Union Street and Library Street.

He suffered a broken pelvis and hip and police are treating it as attempted murder.

The incident follows another hit and run on Saturday night in which a 26-year-old Protestant man was critically injured.

The police are also treating this incident as attempted murder.

The man was on the fringe of Tiger’s Bay when he was knocked down by a stolen car which mounted a kerb and then reversed back over him.

The man who is from the Ballysillan area is in the Ulster Hospital where he has a fractured skull and has undergone a brain scan.

On Friday a Catholic man was left critically ill after being hit by a British Army Land Rover in the nearby New Lodge area of north Belfast.
