Second Person Charged Over Templepatrick Murder

A second man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Antrim father of four Geoffrey Kerr.

The accused, 50-year-old Martin Thomas Fleming from Churchill Road, Larne, was remanded in custody until later this month.

A detective, appearing before Larne Magistrates Court, said he believed he could connect the accused to the charge.

Mr Fleming spoke only to confirm he understood the charge.

Charges were brought against another 33-year-old man on Monday.

Darren Ivan Kernohan, from Moss Drive, Antrim, spoke only to confirm he understood the charges during a five-minute hearing at Ballymena Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Antrim Magistrates' Court on 26 May.

Mr Kerr was murder at his Templepatrick home last Monday.

The 60-year-old financial adviser was fatality shot by intruders following a struggle.

Two other men held over the murder were released without charge, while two women, who were arrested, have been released pending reports to the PPS.

New Pilot Scheme Announced To Test Filming NI Appeal Court Judgements
A new pilot scheme to film the deliver of judgments in the Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland, has been announced by the Lady Chief Justice, Dame Siobhan Keegan. It is understood that during the pilot scheme, none of the judgements will be broadcast, but the filming used to test the process and inform future decisions.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

Four Charged In Connection With Blake Newland Murder
Four people are due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland. The Limavady teenager died after being found with serious stab wounds at a house in the town on Friday, 02 February. Detectives investigating the murder, have now charged two men, aged 27 and 29, with murder.
