Man Arrested Over 1995 Murder

Police investigating a 14-year-old murder case have arrested a man on suspicion of her murder.

Vikki Thompson, a 30-year-old mother-of-two from Ascott-under-Wynchwood, Oxfordshire, was found badly beaten and unconscious by the side of a railway line near her home on August 12, 1995.

She had been seen walking her dog, a collie, in the village around 4pm that day, but the dog returned home without her and she was found about three hours later, suffering from severe head injuries.

She died in hospital six days later.

There was no evidence of a sexual assault. No-one has ever been charged in connection with her death.

It is understood that a 34-year-old man from the same village was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning. He is currently being held in an Oxfordshire police station.

The circumstances leading to the arrest are not yet known.
