Video Appeal Seeks Madeleine McCann
British police are urging internet users to spread a new video message aimed at finding a key witness who may be able to provide new information about Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
The new one-minute film contains images of how Madeline, who would now be aged six, might look now, with a message which has been translated into seven languages - English, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
The new images include one of Madeleine with dark brown hair and tanned skin, in case she has been living in north Africa.
Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, disappeared while on holiday with her family in the Algarve in Portugal on May 3, 2007. She was just three years old.
The appeal has been produced by Britain's Child Exploitation and Online Protection (Ceop) centre and they are hoping that internet users will spread the new film via blogs, emails and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Ceop Head Jim Gamble said: "The person we are looking to reach is likely to be a partner, family member, friend or colleague of the person or people who were involved in Madeleine's disappearance.
"It is also highly probably that they, or someone close to them, is using the internet to search for any updates that may suggest the police are getting closer to discovering the truth."
Any information received as a result of the appeal will be passed to Leicestershire police, who will share it with police in Portugal.
Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann said that they were "extremely grateful" to Ceop for launching the new appeal.
