Men Jailed For Life Over Shopkeeper Murder

Two men have been jailed for life for murdering a shopkeeper in West Yorkshire.

During a robbery in February, Gurmail Singh was continually struck over the head with wine bottles from his Cowcliffe Convenience Store in Huddersfield.

Muawaz Khalid, 20, and Nabeel Shafi, 21, both from Huddersfield, were previously convicted of murder at Bradford Crown Court.

Khalid will spend at least 21 years in behind bars while Shafi was given a 20-year minimum term.

Victim's Dad Charged With Murder

Christopher Hawkins, 47, will come before Bradford Crown Court, charged with killing Ryan and the attempted murder of his sister, Donna. Man Sentenced To 20 Years For Burying Fiancée Alive
A 25-year-old man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of his fiancee. Marcin Kasprzak, of Penistone Road, Huddersfield, has been sentenced at Leeds Crown Court to 20 years in prison. On 28 May 2011 Kasprzak attacked bride-to-be Michelina Lewandowska, 27, at their home with a taser then bound, gagged and placed her in a cardboard box.

Shot Belfast Man Recovering
A 35-year-old man has been shot twice in the leg inside a house in Twinbrook in Co Antrim on the outskirts of Belfast. A young girl and a woman were in the house in the Summerhill Drive area when the attack happened on Wednesday night. However, it is not believed that the man's injuries are life threatening.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Faversham at the weekend. Kent Police confirmed Lincoln Payne, of no fixed abode, had been charged with robbery, theft and two counts of attempted murder following an incident in Fostall Avenue on Saturday, 30 May.
