Cocaine Seized At Manchester Airport
UK Border Agency officers at Manchester Airport have found 10kg of cocaine valued at approximately £400,000. The Class A drugs were discovered hidden in tins of sweet potatoes which were in luggage that had come off a flight from Montego Bay in Jamaica. Two women, aged 24 and 33, who had travelled on the flight and a 33-year-old man who was at the airport to meet them were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the illegal importation of Class A drugs. They were later released on bail pending further enquiries. Colin Brown, UK Border Agency Assistant Director for Manchester Airport said: “As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert to keep drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.”
Appeal Following Attempted Sexual Assault
Police are appealing for help in identifying a man wanted in connection with an attempted sexual assault on 1st April 2011. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, had been out on a night out when she was followed by the suspect from Shepherds Bush tube station. He followed her on to a 207 night bus heading towards Acton Park. She alighted there and he continued to follow her. As they approached Acton Park, High Street around 12.30am, the suspect pushed her against a fence. She managed to get away and contact police. Police would like to speak to a man who is described as being an Asian man, aged in his late 20's, approximately 5'10" tall. He has short black hair and a deep London accent. He also had distinctive v shaped markings on the back of his head. Officers from Ealing's Serious Violence Team are investigating the assault and have released two e fits of the man they would like to identify in connection with this enquiry. Detective Constable Lorraine Davies from the Serious Violence Team at Ealing said: "We are very keen to speak to the man in connection with this incident and ask for anyone who knows who or where he is to contact us.”

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will launch a consultation on details of the regulatory system for future of higher education today, following publication of the higher education white paper ‘Putting students at the heart of the system.’ All students receiving state support should be able to expect the same minimum guarantees on for example quality and access, within a single simpler regulatory framework. The system needs to be proportionate for the sector as a whole. It will look to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy through risk based approaches, simplified processes and more reasonable requirements including on data.

Car Parking Row Man Dies
A salesman has died after an alleged assault following an argument over a parking space. The 53 year-old man collapsed, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, after being involved in the fight behind some shops in Griffnock, East Renfrewshire. He later died at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.

British man arrested on rape charge in Thailand
A British man wanted in connection with the alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl has been arrested in Thailand. Sean McMahon, 45, was arrested by police in Bangkok following a request by the British embassy. He had been working as an English teacher in the capital.

Trial date set for newspaper's royal editor
The royal editor for the 'News of the World' is to stand trial next July charged with hacking into mobile phones belonging to the Royal Family. Clive Goodman, 48, from Putney, south-west London, was arrested following claims from Clarence House that the security of its telephone network had been breached.

Brixton Drug Gang Get Long Sentences
A gang of criminals who ran a lucrative drug dealing network from a car tyre shop in Brixton were sentenced last week to a total of 81 years in prison. Nine men, who were previously convicted of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, appeared at Kingston Crown Court today to hear their sentences.
