Appeal Over Carlisle Assault

Police in North Cumbria have appealed for witnesses to an assault which happened in Carlisle on Tuesday. The incident happened between 4:15pm and 4:45pm on Newtown Road at the junction of Bower Street in Carlisle. A 38-year-old man is believed to have been assaulted by two men, who got out of a blue Peugeot 307. The victim' received non-serious injuries in the attack. Arson Attack on Bishop Auckland Car

Police in Bishop Auckland are investigating an arson attack on a car on Sunday night. The blue VW Jetta, registration KX 56 ZYH, was parked unattended outside its owner's home on Manor Road, in St Helens, around 10:45pm. It is believed that three men approached the vehicle and set fire to its interior. The 19-year-old owner and another male chased the suspected and they fled, crossing the road and heading to what has been referred to as a disused railway line. The suspects are described as being over 18 years of age, ranging in height between 5ft 4ins and 6 feet tall, and all were wearing grey or dark clothing. Two 17-year-olds arrested in connection with the incident have been bailed pending further inquiries. Appeal Over Middlesbrough RTC

Police in Middlesbrough are appealing for information after a fail-to-stop collision where a car and a cyclist collided. The 15-year-old male cyclist collided with a black car that hit his left leg as he rode across the Eastbound on-slip to the A174 on Stokesley Road between 7:05pm and 7:15pm on July 29. The cyclist then fell off his bike and slid along the ground before hitting the wall which surrounds the car park of Marton Country Club. He suffered some bruising, lacerations to his hands and small cuts to his head. The cyclist was wearing beige trousers and a red, blue and white chequered shirt at the time of incident. Melanie Hall Murder: Police Appeal For Information On Car
Detectives investigating the murder of Melanie Hall have appealed for information about a car that may be linked to her disappearance, 17 years ago. Following the broadcast of an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme, police have said they want to talk to the owner of a white VW Golf GTI hardrop, registration C752 CYE.

Al Fayed Denies Child Assault Claims
Harrods boss Mohamed al Fayed has vehemently denied a newspaper report alleging he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl, after voluntarily speaking to police. Mr al Fayed was questioned 'under caution' for 30 minutes, at a London police station yesterday, during which he denied the Sun newspaper's claims.

Six Injured In Police Vehicle Collision
Six people have been injured in a police car collision with a taxi in Sunderland. The Northumbria police vehicle was making its way along Corporation Road in Sunderland in response to a reported assault when it collided with a Citroen Xsara taxi on Sunday. The accident happened at the junction of Villette Road just after 4.15pm.

Car Chase Man Jailed For Assaulting Police
A man has been sentenced to three years after threatening and assaulting police officers after a high-speed car chase. Keith Smith, 38, of Firbank Road, was found guilty of making threats to kill, assault causing actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and two charges of common assault, at Manchester Square Crown Court.

Teenager injured in collision with police car
A teenage cyclist has been seriously injured after he was involved in a collision with a police car that was responding to an emergency call. The collision occurred around 10:10pm on December 5 at the junction of Talbot Avenue and Oban Road in the Winton area of Bournemouth.
