Ronnie Barker’s Son Charged With Child Porn Offences
Comedian Ronnie Barker's son has been re-arrested on charges of making indecent images of children, after eight years on the run.
44-year-old Adam Barker, of no fixed address, attended a west London police station by appointment and was charged with five offences.
He will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court later.
Barker was first arrested in June 2003 and released on bail until the following year but failed to return.
Following his fathers death in 2005 police said they would allow him to attend his father's funeral if he then handed himself in, but he did not appear.
Levenson Holding Final Hearing
Lord Justice Leveson's inquiry into press ethics is holding its last scheduled hearing, after eight months of evidence.
The inquiry at the Royal Courts of Justice was prompted by the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.
Some 470 witnesses appeared and 6,000 pages of evidence was presented.
Lawyers representing three newspaper groups and victims of press intrusion are making their closing submissions on the 102nd day of the inquiry.
Peers Back Car Smoking Ban
Peers have backed plans to ban smoking in cars when children are present, but supporters admit they do not have government backing for the move.
The House of Lords approved Lord Ribeiro's private member's bill to make offenders liable for a £60 fine or attendance at a smoke awareness course.
The measure would need the support of MPs to become law and David Cameron has questioned whether it is justified, suggesting it would have serious implications for personal freedoms.
