Teen Killed During Police Chase Crash
A 13-year-old girl has died following a crash involving a car being chased by police in south London.
The Met says inquiries are underway after the fatal collision in Southwark.
At approx 6.20pm on Sunday, two cars - a Peugeot 308 and a Volkswagen Polo - were involved in the collision in Ilderton Road, South Bermondsey.
"The MPS has now begun a thorough investigation into the circumstances."
One of the cars, the Peugeot, was being pursued by a marked police car at the time of the collision.
London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade also attended.
A 13-year-old girl, who had been sat in the rear of the Volkswagen, died at the scene from her injuries.
The child's mother, father and brother, who had also been travelling in the car, have been taken to hospital although their injuries are not thought serious at this time.
The male driver of the Peugeot has been arrested and taken into custody. The female passenger has been taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
Officers from the Directorate of Professional Standards and Traffic officers are investigating.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed and an IPCC investigator attended the scene to assess the circumstances
The police car had its 'blues and twos' in operation.
Commander Tony Eastaugh said: "An innocent family are now dealing with the tragic loss of a loved one.
"The Metropolitan Police has begun a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this terrible incident.
"The thoughts of our staff and officers are with the family at this time."

Three People Killed In Welsh Traffic Collision
Three people have been killed in a road traffic collision in Wales, police have said. The incident happened in Tal-y-Bont, Conway, at 8:45pm on 29 October. A woman in her late 50's was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. North Wales Police said the victims' next of kin have been informed.

Rugby star arrested following fight
England rugby player Olly Barkley has been arrested by police using CS spray following a fight in which a man suffered a broken jaw. The 24-year-old fly half, who also plays for Bath, was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police in Newquay on Sunday night. A 19-year-old student from Cardiff and a 23-year-old man from Wadebridge were also arrested.

A teenage boy hit by a police car in Birmingham on Wednesday night has died in hospital. Named as 16-year-old Harry Kirkham, he was hit by a patrol car outside a police station in Sutton New Road, Erdington, at about 21:00. West Midlands Police have confirmed the teenager was with his brother and a friend and had just left a local church.
