Police Injured In Hit-And-Run Attack

Two police officers have been injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a car they had stopped for speeding.

One officer suffered a fractured skull and the other a fractured wrist when the car was reversed into them at speed on Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, at 22:50 on Sunday.

The car had been stopped on suspicion of speeding and sped off after driving into the officers.

The officer with a fractured skull suffered a bleed to the brain, but remains in a stable condition. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

The second officer will need surgery for the wrist injury.

Two men were later arrested in Lancashire on suspicion of attempted murder and a car was removed for forensic examination.

16-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Cardiff Hit-And-Run
South Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident in Cardiff that left a 16-year-old with a fractured skull. The incident occurred just before 19:00 on Tuesday at the junction of Clare Road and Tudor Street in Grangetown. The 16-year-old is a serious condition at University Hospital of Wales.

Appeal Following Fatal Crash In Rotherham
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in the Maltby area of Rotherham. A silver Rover 45 and a silver Mercedes estate car were involved in a head-on collision on the A631 Tickhill Road at Maltby on Sunday 17 May. The driver of the Rover, an 88-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Taxi Lands Upside Down On Railway Line After Crashing Through Barrier
A taxi has crashed through a barrier and landed upside down on a railway line in West Yorkshire. According to reports the car collided with a barrier next to the railway line on Victoria Street in Shipley. Paramedics were called to the scene at 09:10 on Friday morning, the driver suffered minor injuries.

Gang of four found guilty of manslaughter
A gang of four have been found guilty of beating barman David Morley to death in a random brutal assault. Reece Sargeant, 21, Darren Case, 18, and David Blenman, 17, were all given sentences of 12 years for the attack which took place in London's South Bank area on 30 October 2004.

Police Officers Injured In Moped Incident
Two police officers are being treated in hospital after being hit by a suspected stolen moped in Lewisham. According to reports a female officer suffered a broken collar bone, and a male police officer suffered an ankle injury in the incident at about 23:30 on Monday night.
