Teenager Convicted Of Raping 11-Year-Old Girl
An 18-year-old has been convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl in north London in November last year.
Opemipo Jaji, of Edmonton, had denied dragging the girl into Jubilee Park, Enfield, but the Old Bailey heard the girl was raped repeatedly over three hours and traces of her blood were found on his bag and trainers.
The court heard the girl was attacked as she made her way home from school.
The girl and Jaji had been on a bus from Enfield. When the girl got off Jaji started following her, feeling threatened, she crossed the road three times before starting to run in an attempt to get away.
But the teenager grabbed her and took her to a secluded part of the park where he forced a glove into her mouth before raping her.
Sentencing is due to take place on 7 June and Mr Justice Singh told the court that a life sentence was an option.
The court also heard that Jaji had pleaded guilty to a previous sexual assault charge of a 12-year-old girl in 2011.
It is understood that he had also followed the girl from a bus stop and took her to a housing estate where he threatened her, stuffed a school tie in her mouth and sexually assaulted her.
He was sentenced to a 10-month detention and training order but was not registered as a sex offender.
Then in May 2012, he appeared before magistrates accused of having indecent images of children on his MP4 player after 600 images of girls were discovered on the device.
In September he pleaded guilty to an offence of making an indecent photograph of a child, and was given a community sentence.

An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.
