Govt Marks International Day Against Homophobia
The UK government has made a statement on its commitment to advancing LGB&T equality to mark the 9th International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO).
Minister for Women and Equalities, Jo Swinson, said: "International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is an opportunity to champion the progress made towards equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) people, as well as reflect on the challenges that remain.
"We’re absolutely committed to advancing LGB&T equality and we’ve a lot to be proud of. I’m delighted that, once again, we have been recognised by the International Lesbian and Gay Association as the number one in Europe on LGB&T rights, and we are determined to maintain and build on this.
"But there is still more we can all do to eliminate prejudice and discrimination which is why we will continue to drive forward change across government as well as push for more action from partners overseas."

British man murdered in Thailand
A British man was stabbed to death in a tourist area in southern Thailand last night. Richard Mark Collins, 35, from Hereford, was murdered in the tourist town of Krabi on Tuesday night. He is understood to have been stabbed twice and was taken to hospital, where he later died. A 29-year-old taxi driver, Uthen Duangnoi, has been arrested.

Rebels launch two devastating attacks in Baghdad
Two attacks in Baghdad have claimed the lives of at least 20 people, including up to six policemen. In the first incident, 13 civilians were reported to have died and around 20 were injured after a car bomb exploded outside a Shia mosque in the northern neighbourhood of Adhamiya.
