Parenting Website Calls For Ban On Postnatal Sales

A survey carried out by parenting forum Mumsnet has called for sales reps to be banned from maternity wards in the UK.

82% of those who reponded to the survey said that reps from the promotion company Bounty, should not be given access to new mothers on maternity wards.

Over 1000 woman who had given birth in the last year completed the survey, the results of which included:

• 56% felt the Bounty rep invaded their privacy

• 60% said they were not told their personal details would be passed to others

• 48% said they were not told that giving their personal details was voluntary

• 29% said they felt pressurized into having their baby's photo taken

• 17% said the Bounty rep implied that they wouldn't get Child Benefit if they didn't fill in the company's form

Calling for the ban, Mumsnet say there is a time and place for direct sales, "and it's not on postnatal wards."
