HLF Allocate £1.3m To 'Saving Gower' Project

The UK's first designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' has been pledged a grant of some £1.3 million to secure its future.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) had allocated the money to Gower in south Wales for the "Saving Gower - for All its Worth" project.

The project is aiming to conserve the industrial heritage of the area, improve its coastal walls and open up more unspoilt land.

Manon Williams, chair of HLF Committee for Wales, said in a statement: "As the UK's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and as a tourist attraction in itself, it is vital that the landscape of the Gower Peninsula is preserved and maintained.

"We are very glad to be working with the project partners and local communities in this very good cause."
